Genuine British Army Wooden Bivi Tent Pole – Grade A
sold in pairs
Authentic Norwegian Hardwood | Traditional Round Profile | Military Surplus
The Backbone of Traditional Field Craft
Before the era of ultralight alloys, the British Military relied on the sheer strength of Norwegian Hardwood. These genuine round bivi poles are legendary for their durability and "bombproof" reliability in the field. Unlike modern poles that can snap or bend under heavy wind or snow loads, these hardwood poles offer the rigid structural integrity needed for a rock-solid shelter.
Sourced in Grade A condition, these are the authentic "pioneer" style poles used for propping up bivi sheets, bashas, or vintage canvas tents. They are as much a piece of history as they are a functional tool for the modern woodsman.
Key Features & Technical Specs
-
Premium Norwegian Hardwood: Selected for its tight grain and high strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring the pole won't warp or splinter easily under tension.
-
Traditional Round Profile: The classic cylindrical design makes it easy to lash, slide into tent sleeves, or use with standard metal eyelets.
-
Tapered/Finished Ends: Features correctly finished ends designed to seat securely into the ground or into a bivi/tarp eyelet without causing damage.
-
All-Weather Resilience: Naturally dense hardwood that stands up to moisture and heavy use far better than cheaper softwood alternatives.
-
Authentic British Issue: Genuine military surplus, built to withstand the rigours of infantry life and field deployments.
Condition Note: Grade A (Excellent Surplus)
Our Grade A poles are hand-selected for quality:
-
Structural Integrity: Straight, solid, and free from cracks or rot. These poles are 100% fit for purpose.
-
Appearance: May feature original military markings or a light patina from storage, adding to their authentic "vintage" character.
-
Surface: Smooth finish with minimal field wear, ready for immediate use in your camp setup.
Ideal For:
-
Bushcraft & Traditional Camping: The perfect partner for a canvas tarp or a heavy-duty basha to create a classic "A-frame" or "lean-to" shelter.
-
Vintage Tent Restorations: A must-have for anyone restoring or completing a period-correct military tent kit.
-
Garden & Outdoor Projects: Use them as heavy-duty plant supports, custom flagpoles, or as components in rustic outdoor furniture.
